I Need You Here

Poetry

I need you here
To help fold the sheets,
Fill hummingbird feeders,
Choose airline seats.

I want you to help
Change the propane tank,
Get rid of the bugs
That hide on the deck.

I imagine your hands
That chopped up the food
And adorned our table
With candles, for mood.

I miss your mind
When I read the news,
I need your insights;
I crave your views.

I want you to hold me
When life goes so wrong.
I most need that now,
Now that you’re gone.
